For businesses who use the same audio visual system for background purposes and for live DJing purposes, a MIDI controller is the perfect addition. The system can be left to run in Scheduling mode during the day, and when the DJ needs to take control, they can mix just like they would using conventional DJing hardware.
This technology allows ANY MIDI controller to operate OtsAV Radio Broadcaster or OtsAV TV Broadcaster. You can now start and stop your tracks, increase or decrease pitch/tempo, scratch, frame seek, set a cue point and even crossfade, using a professional MIDI controller. This means you no longer need to remember lots of keyboard shortcuts, and allows for much quicker song manipulation.
Any controller that has MIDI capabilities can be used with OtsAV Radio Broadcaster or OtsAV TV Broadcaster. These include controllers such as the Denon HC4500. (pictured below)

Most MIDI controllers offer 2-way MIDI communication, which allows OtsAV to control the displays and LEDs on these controllers. These are the recommended type of controller to use. Devices that only offer 1-way MIDI communication can also be used to control OtsAV, however the lights and LEDs on these controllers cannot be MIDI controlled.
Some MIDI controllers also include an in-built dual-channel soundcard. OtsAV can make use of these inbuilt soundcards, including ASIO support.

OtsAV allows the routing of audio from Deck A and Deck B to two independent audio outputs. In simple terms, Deck A can be set to use one set of stereo pairs, connected to Channel 1 on your external mixer, and Deck B can be set to a different set of stereo pairs, connected to Channel 2 on your external mixer.
The term "Old School" refers to the way in which equipment is connected to use one mixer channel per deck. Using conventional hardware (turntables, CD players, mixing console), DJs usually have to ride the volume sliders on their mixer to achieve consistant volume levels throughout their performance.
Even in "Old School" mode, OtsAV's Dynamics Processor takes care of any volume changes in an elegant manner. Some DJs prefer to have full control over the mix, and can do so if desired by turning off the dynamics processor. You can now connect your equipment in the same way you would have done using conventional DJ hardware in the past.
